Tenure Track Faculty Position in Radiation Oncology
The Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University invites applications for 1 tenure track faculty position and 1 clinical track faculty position in the Section of Oncology. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree and must be eligible or board certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (Radiation Oncology). Starting salary and rank will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
The successful candidate will join five faculty members (to make up a total of 6 faculty; three medical oncologists, two radiation oncologists, and one medical physicist), three medical oncology residents, and five licensed veterinary technicians comprising the Section of Oncology. The Section provides care for patients in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, a tertiary care service and teaching facility with a diverse caseload and an established referral base. It is a great time to join our group as a new state-of-the-art linear accelerator will be installed, allowing the new faculty members to shape the future of clinical Radiation Oncology services and research. We are also installing a new CT scanner for diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology CT simulation. Our Toshiba Vantage 1.5T MRI has recently undergone substantial updates in both its software and hardware components. Clinical service and teaching responsibilities for medical oncology and future radiation oncology residents are distributed among faculty. Faculty have the opportunity to participate in training undergraduate students, graduate students, and professional students, as well as rotating interns and residents.
Faculty members are expected to develop and sustain a clinical, basic, and/or translational research program. Independent research space and services of clinical trial coordinators are available. Cornell is a world-class research and teaching institution with extensive facilities and opportunities on campus for collaboration with basic scientists of all disciplines and being a member of the Clinical and Translational Science Award One Health Alliance, Cornell Center for Microenvironment and Metastasis, Cornell AI Initiative, and Cornell Veterinary Biobank all on the Ithaca campus, Cornell Veterinary Specialist Hospital in Stamford Connecticut, and Weill Cornell Medicine and Cornell Tech in New York City, provide a large pool of potential collaborators.
The tenure track position includes up to 12 weeks of clinical service per year. Approximate time distribution for the tenure track is negotiable and expected to be 30-60% research, and 20-50% clinical, teaching, and other duties.
